DISCIPLES GET DIRTY

About time to get gritty? The Disciples of Dirt Mountain Bike Club will hold its 10th annual All Comer's Meet at the Whypass trail network near Lorane on Sunday. Organizers say the event is the area's largest free mountain bike festival featuring social rides, vendor booths and a fundraising raffle. Riders will break into groups at 9:45 a.m. according to pace and skill level, and spend a few hours cruising the trails before gathering back at a bonfire to eat, drink and socialize. More than 225 riders participated in last year's event, and even more are expected this year. For more information, visit http://bit.ly/1a8q16m.

TAG, YOU'RE IT, HUNTERS

Hunters are reminded to report the results of every deer, elk, cougar, bear, pronghorn and turkey tag purchased. Hunters who fail to report their 2013 deer and elk tags by the deadline (Jan. 31 for most hunts) will have to pay a $25 penalty fee to purchase a 2015 hunting license. As of Jan. 8, reporting rates averaged 54 percent for 2013 deer and elk tags. More than 140,000 deer and elk tags still need to be reported.
