Buy-Out at Lovells

Lovells Confectionery has been purchased by its management form the buildings materials group Albrighton Plc. This transaction restores to independence a company that was originally founded at Newport, South Wales back in 1884. G F Lovell Plc obtained a Stock Exchange listing prior to becoming subject to a reverse take-over by Albrighton in 1989.

Confectionery activities were hived down into Lovells Confectionery Ltd and subsequently expanded through the acquisition of Belmor Confectionery.

Still based at Newport, Lovells factory was built just six years ago. The buyout team was led by Ken Scobie, a non executive director of Albrighton and now chairman of the company; the operations director is Christopher Nash and Neil Jenkinson is the sales and marketing director.
