Business to unite for island climate change summit.

A FREE business summit will be held in Anglesey this May to unite businesses on tackling climate change and environmental sustainability.

Organised by responsible business charity, Business in the Community, the annual Prince's Mayday Summit will bring together business leaders from across the region at a free event at Canolfan Ynni, Coleg Menai, Llangefni on May 8. Held in Anglesey for the first time, the Mayday Summit is supported by the Welsh Government, Magnox Ltd and the Energy Island Programme. The line up of expert guest speakers, interactive discussions and an environmental knowledge swap will address key issues for business including green skills, energy reduction, integrating renewables and how to engage employees.

Director for Business in the Community, Simon Harris, said: "The Mayday Summit is about helping companies move beyond merely managing and minimising the impact they make on the environment towards fostering the necessary innovations and truly sustainable business models that will see them become the market leaders of the future.

"The summit is one of the best places to network, learn from peers and will inspire businesses about how to take action. Places for the event are filling fast so I would encourage people to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment."

Since His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales founded the Mayday Network in 2007, it has grown into the UK's biggest community of businesses committed to understanding and minimising their environmental impacts with more than 3,700 members.

Dr Fred Brookes of Magnox Ltd Wylfa Site, said: "As Mayday Members since 2009, we are delighted to support Business in the Community bring the Mayday Summit to Anglesey for the first time this year. We hope to engage many new businesses in this important agenda and look forward to sharing best practice."
