Business leaders must have a global view and an understanding of how their organisations, their countries, and their regions fit into the global context, Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said on Wednesday.

In his key-note address at the Asian Business Leadership Forum Knowledge Congress, Shaikh Nahyan said leadership required the ability to build relationships and break through barriers. "I am confident that this forum will help strengthen Asian economies."

Kamal Nath, Indian Minister of Urban Development, TKA Nair, advisor to the Indian Prime Minister, Indian Ambassador M K Lokesh, Yusuff Ali MA, managing director of Emkay Group, and Ram Buxani, President of ITL-Cosmos were among the dignitaries at the event. The forum featured three dedicated discussions on Industry, Infrastructure and Energy, with five panelists in each session. Panelists from the UAE included Fatima Al Jaber, chief operating officer of Al Jaber Group, Essa Abdulla Al Ghurair, vice-chairman of Al Ghurair Investment, Rajen Kilachand, chairman and president of the Dodsal Group, and Trevor Nash from Masdar. "These key business sectors do not have a dedicated platform for intellectual discussions and it has been our mandate to showcase the high-achieving front-runners of the Asian economy."
