Business expert joins centre team.
Based in Newcastle, Ian's role will primarily involve leading the board to further develop CELS strategy.
CELS was formed in 2001 and asked by regional development agency One NorthEast to boost the region's life sciences and healthcare sector.
Since it was established, the organisation has played a crucial role in helping generate innovation, competitiveness and economic growth for the region.
The appointment of Ian Shott marks an important new chapter for the organisation.
Ian's resume includes a strong pharmaceutical background, having previously held senior positions in some of the world's leading life sciences corporations.
David Allison, director of business and industry at One NorthEast, said: "Ian has 25 years of industrial experience in life sciences and a proven track record in forming and managing successful businesses in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
"He is an accomplished business leader and with his knowledge and global experience comes a wealth of industry contacts which will benefit CELS and the region as a whole."
