Business community suggest to hire services of Chinese consultant.

ISLAMABAD, July 07, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- The Pakistani business community has suggested to the government to hire services of a Chinese consultant for suggesting products and value-chain. It was submitted to Pakistans Ambassador to China, Masood Khan, during the visit of a trade delegation to China in connection with participation in Kashgar Trade and Commodities Fair. The community submitted that such an endeavor would help compete Pakistan in exporting to China and identify such products for implementation by local industry. Fifty Pakistani companies exhibited their products in the fair. Over 100 delegates formed the delegation. Imtiaz Rastgar, at a press conference on return from the Fair, informed media that Pakistani delegates at a meeting with the Ambassador had submitted comprehensive suggestions to improve the trade between the two countries. He said, the community members pinpointed the particular problems faced by the Pakistani business community on the Silk Route regarding custom, quarantine, visa and immigration. Rastgar said these issues were inhabiting the true potential between the two countries, adding that Pakistani businessmen had also demanded that quota on Pakistani rice should be removed and it should be included in FTA. Referring to their meetings with the Chinese officials, he said, these issues were also raised with them and they had appreciated the strong Pakistani participation in the fair and promised to resolve the problems. These authorities included administration of Kashgar, quarantine, customs and Chamber of Commerce of Kashgar, he added. The Pakistani delegation consisted of representatives of several chambers of commerce, trade bodies and trade promotion council. Jalil Malik, Vice Chairman of Pak-China Trade Council and former President of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry acted as spokesman of the delegation. Rastgar said the delegation also had meetings with trade representatives of all neighboring countries and Secretary CCII of Xingjian region and Deputy Commissioner of Kashgar. He described the participation in the fair for Pakistan as rewarding.
