Business calendar.

Meetings

The Greater Wenatchee Area Technology Alliance Roundtable Luncheon Meeting is at noon March 19 at the Confluence Technology Center, 283 Technology Center Way, Wenatchee. The program includes a presentation by Interwest Communications and NEC Unified on how current technologies could become more useful. Lunch is provided for GWATA members, guests pay $5. The Rental Association of Wenatchee Valley's dinner business meeting starts at 6 p.m. March 3 at the Eagles Club, 1208 N Wenatchee Ave., Wenatchee. Bill De Weber, WWA president, and Julie Froom of RHA Rental Housing Association will speak. For information call Glenda Thompson at 670-1124.

The Wenatchee Business and Professional Women will meet at noon March 18 at Super China Star Buffet, 201 Valley Mall Parkway in East Wenatchee. For information call Judy Lamphiear at 663-3091.

Workshops

SCORE (Counselors to America's Small Business) offers two workshops in March:

* "20 Ways to Grow Sales" is set for March 4. An experienced sales manager will suggest ways to increase sales and services, plus offer ideas on marketing and advertising.

* "Financing Your Business" is set for March 18. Participants will get ideas on how and where to find financing for a startup or existing business, including what banks are looking for in a borrower and resources for grants.

Workshops are 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce, 300 S. Columbia, Wenatchee.

The cost is $25 per business, which includes light refreshments. Call 662-2116 to register. SCORE also offers free business counseling from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays.

"Managing Employee Leave" is the topic of the Apple Valley Human Resources Association workshop from 8 a.m. to noon March 19 at the Wenatchee Convention Center, 121 N. Wenatchee Ave., Wenatchee. Attorney Arianna Cozart and Pete Phillips, absence management coordinator at Central Washington Hospital, will provide information on current federal and state leave laws. The Wenatchee office of the Washington State Deportment of Revenue is hosting a free workshop for new and small business owners from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 17 at the Douglas County Fire District, 377 Eastmont Ave., East Wenatchee. For information call 663-9741.

The 2009 Write on the River conference is set for May 16 on the Wenatchee Valley College campus. Spokane author Jess Walter is the keynote speaker. For information see www.writeontheriver.org.

Events

The Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center fund raiser is 6 to 9 p.m. March 11 at the Wenatchee Convention Center, 121 N. Wenatchee Ave., Wenatchee. The event includes a banquet, silent auction, entertainment and presentation of several annual awards. Dance instructor Joan Shelton Mason will receive the "Wenatchee Valley Living Treasure Award." The Greater Wenatchee Area Technology Alliance Innovators Awards Luncheon is noon to 1:30 p.m. April 7 at the Wenatchee Convention Center. The event includes GWATA award announcements. The keynote speaker is Microsoft's Justin Barsotti, group marketing manager, educational products. Tickets are $23 for GWATA members or $28 for nonmembers. For information, visit www.gwata.
