WALTHAM - Defense contractor Raytheon Co. has delivered the first U.S. Army Common Sensor Payload for the Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter.
The first of 28 system design and development units awarded under a contract, the electrooptical/infrared and laser sensor was shipped to Rockwell Collins to begin software integration.
A flight test is expected in the first quarter of 2009, Raytheon said.
Raytheon has operations in Marlboro.
Cell site plugs in
GRAFTON - Verizon Wireless reported has activated a new cell site that increases wireless voice and data coverage and capacity along Route 140 in southeastern Grafton and the surrounding area.
LEOMINSTER - Plastican Inc. has donated a truckload of five-gallon plastic pails with lids to help Louisiana and Texas families clean their homes after recent flooding.
The pails will be packed with rubber gloves, dust masks, scrub brushes, sponges, bleach, soaps, and other items by the United Methodist Committee on Relief, which will distribute the "flood buckets" to Methodist churches.
Church volunteers will distribute them to households.
WORCESTER - Daniel J. Walsh, a certified financial planner with Walsh Investment Services, and Frederick M. Misilo, a lawyer with Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple, will hold a free estate planning seminar, "Estate Conservation," at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Tatnuck Park, 340 May St.
Those attending will receive a 20-page workbook on estate planning and be eligible for a complimentary consultation.
WORCESTER - The Employer Association of the NorthEast will hold a workshop, "Dealing With an Organizing Campaign," from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at EANE's Training Center, 67 Millbrook St.
