Home sales fall

BOSTON - Sales of Massachusetts homes dropped 15.4 percent last month and recorded the lowest number in November since 1991, The Warren Group said yesterday.

The median price for a single-family home also slumped, falling 5.8 percent to $295,000, compared to $313,000 in November 2006, said The Warren Group, publisher of Banker & Tradesman.

The Warren Group said 3,538 homes were sold last month, down from 4,183 a year ago.

The November 2007 number was the first time since 1991 that November sales dipped below 3,600.

"Massachusetts' housing market remained in the doldrums during November, and it's not likely that December will bring much holiday cheer to home sellers," said Timothy Warren Jr., The Warren Group's chief executive officer.

In Worcester County, sales of single-family homes dropped 12.4 percent, to 470.

The median price in Worcester County declined 6.1 percent to $230,000.

Antigen awarded

WORCESTER - Antigen Express Inc., a subsidiary of Generex Biotechnology Corp., has been awarded a Japanese patent related to the company's antigen presentation technology.

Generex, based in Toronto, reported in a news release that the technology protected by the patent involves using small synthetic peptides to enhance the stimulation of certain T helper cells, which are a key component of the body's immune system.

Antigen Express is developing vaccine technology, and the company's technology is being tested in breast cancer patients.
