Patricia D. Doherty, associate director of the Office of Intercultural Affairs at Clark University, Worcester, has been selected to receive a Fulbright award to the U.S.-Germany International Education Administrators Program. Since 2006, she has worked with Clark's students, staff, and faculty as an adviser, mentor and trainer. Ms. Doherty advises the Global Scholars Program and mentors students on immigration, personal, and educational concerns.
The Colleges of Worcester Consortium has elected Jack P. Calareso, president of Anna Maria College since 2007, as chairman of the consortium's board of directors, effective July 1.
Elected to serve as officers of the board for two-year terms were: Vice Chairman Robert E. Johnson, president, Becker College; Past Chairman Gail E. Carberry, president, Quinsigamond Community College; Treasurer Andrea Michaels, vice president, budget and planning, Clark University; Clerk Davis Baird, provost and vice president, academic affairs, Clark University.
The Worcester State University board of trustees has approved the appointments of two academic deans and an interim associate vice president for academic affairs.
Frank Hall was named dean of the School of Education, Health, and Natural Sciences. Mr. Hall was most recently director of the Secondary STEM Education Program at Texas A & M University. He also served as a program officer of the National Research Council, National Academy of Sciences and as a program manager at the National Science Foundation.
Charles Fox was named dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Mr. Fox was most recently dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at Point Park University and also served as associate dean for academic affairs and research at the College of Health Professions, Wichita State University.
Patricia Marshall was named interim associate vice president for academic affairs. Ms. Marshall was most recently chairwoman of the Department of World Languages at Worcester State University.
Injectronics Corp., a Massachusetts-based injection molding, contract manufacturing and thermoformed packaging company, has hired Scott Nickerson as general manager for the company's Clinton Division. Mr. Nickerson has more than 20 years experience in quality systems and injection molding management. He has been in medical device manufacturing since 2006 in molded components and sub-assemblies for many of the top medical device leaders.
HeartWare International Inc., a Framingham-based company that is involved in the development of less invasive, miniaturized circulatory support technologies for the treatment of advanced heart failure, has appointed Peter F. McAree of Hopkinton as senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. Mr. McAree most recently was senior vice president and chief financial officer of Caliper Life Sciences Inc.
MRV Communications of Chelmsford, a provider of carrier ethernet access and optical transport solutions for the telecommunications industry, has hired Paul L. Challenger of Holden as vice president of finance. Mr. Challenger, a CPA, will be responsible for all financial and accounting activity of the company's Optical Communications Systems division. Most recently, he was vice president and controller at Cyalume Technologies Inc. of West Springfield.
Attorney Dean Moschos (SEE PUBLISHED CORRECTION) of Worcester, an attorney for Mirick O'Connell in Worcester, was recently named one of the "Top 100 Most Powerful Employment Attorneys" in the United States by Human Resources Executive magazine, in conjunction with Lawdragon, an online and print research organization headed by legal journalists and lawyers. More than 5,000 nominations are received annually for this prestigious award.
