Transportation rules to be reviewed

SPRINGFIELD - Oregon Trucking Associations Inc. will meet in Springfield on Wednesday to discuss new transportation industry safety rules.

The meeting will be at noon at the Shilo Inn, 3350 Gateway St. John Sallak, the group's safety director, will discuss new commercial drivers license rules that took effect Oct. 1. One new requirement, for example, is for all traffic violations to be recorded on an individual's commercial driver license record - even those that occur in the license holder's private vehicle.

Sallak also will give an update on hazardous materials security, new rules on securing loads, and recent changes to drug and alcohol testing rules.

The cost is $15. RSVP: (888) 293-0005.
