Philip Farrington has been appointed director of land use planning and development for PeaceHealth Oregon Region. He will head the regulatory process for PeaceHealth's RiverBend site in Springfield as well as for work at the Hilyard campus in Eugene. Prior to joining PeaceHealth, Farrington worked for Satre Associates in Eugene.

Jeff Whiteley has joined Amusement Unlimited Inc. in Eugene as a sales and service representative. He previously owned and operated a pool table business, which Amusement has purchased.

Gene Evans has joined the Oregon Department of Education in Salem as communications officer. He is responsible for developing and directing communications, including all media relations and public information. Evans was previously the public information director with the Oregon Student Assistance Commission in Eugene.

Glenda Lonstron has joined the Eugene Hearing and Speech Center in Eugene as development coordinator. She was formerly self-employed with Hospitality Enterprises.


Lane Electric Cooperative in Eugene has been awarded the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program certification for the fourth consecutive year from the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The award is in recognition of outstanding efforts in health promotion and illness and injury prevention.

Nick Urhausen, a claims representative with the Social Security Administration, has joined the board of McKenzie Personnel Systems in Eugene, an agency for individuals with disabilities.

John Scott, of Inovec in Eugene, has been recognized by the local Mid-Valley Chapter of the Society of Technical Communication with the Distinguished Chapter Service Award. The award is presented for outstanding leadership.

John Rude, of John Rude and Associates, has joined the board of directors for the Eugene Hearing and Speech Center. Also, Jean Tate has joined the center's board of foundation trustees. Also, Donna Woolley, of Eagles View Management, has been named honorary chairwoman for the 2002 Chairs Campaign benefiting the preschool at Eugene Hearing. Eric Larsen will serve as chairman.
