Charter Operators Utilizing Eclipse 500 Jets.As of Dec. 13, we tracked air charter operators to see how many of them were approved to fly passengers on Eclipse 500 very light jets. In doing so, we checked operators D085s, a document issued by the Federal Aviation Administration that approves commercial use of such aircraft. Boca Raton, Fla.-based, DayJet Services LLC (air carrier certificate WGEA500K) dba DayJet Services and Wingedfoot Services, has the largest fleet of Eclipse VLJs in the world. As of Dec. 20, DayJet s D085 listed 26 Eclipse jets and one Learjet 60.http://www.dayjet.com Jan 9, 2008
North American Jet Charter Group was the world s first operator to receive FAA certification to operate Eclipse VLJs and was first to fly passengers on its managed Eclipse aircraft. The newest kid on the block to operate an Eclipse is AirDialog dba Linear Air. The operator added its five-place VLJ to its D085 on Nov. 14. However, the jet [N15ND] isn t certified for reduced vertical separation minimum (RVSM). Without RVSM certification, the aircraft can t fly above 29,000 feet. Based at Laurence G. Hanscom Field (BED) in Bedford, Mass., the operator s DO85 currently lists six eight-passenger Cessna Caravans and the one Eclipse.http://www.linearair.com Jan 9, 2008
TAG Acquires Farnborough Airport.On Dec. 17, Geneva, Switzerland-based TAG Aviation Holding announced it has acquired the freehold for Farnborough Airport (EGLF) from the UK s secretary of state for defense. Terms of the acquisition weren t disclosed. When TAG signed the head lease in 2003--a perquisite for acquisition, it said the transaction doesn t change its purpose to provide a long-term home for the Farnborough Air Show. The company has and will continue making substantial investments in EGLF. TAG plans to redevelop the airport into a full-service business aviation facility; it s preparing an airport master plan, which will be presented for public consultation in 2008. Jan 9, 2008
