BARBER Gordon Smith (below) gives cynicism a close shave on Mediums: Talking To The Dead. The gentle spiritualist makes most TV "psychics" look like two-bob conmen.

I don't know how he does it, possibly telepathy, but telly must approach this risky area cautiously. Mediums should be treated with the same suspicion as double-glazing salesmen and MPs.

For every well-meaning soul trying to alleviate suffering there are a dozen money-raking fakes. I'd like to see two things. 1) Psychic fraudsters exposed on Britain's Most Taunted. 2) Grumpy mediums who tell pesky spirits to sod off and stop bothering the living.

-AFTER Mediums, the BBC was going to profile the Flat Earth Society, but membership keeps falling off.
