Busbar Trunking System: Ideal solution to reliable and economical engineering investment for power distribution in textile and other industrial sectors.

In commercial and industrial distribution system the method adopted for transportation of electrical energy from source to load is through insulated conductor cables, which are run on overhead cable trays and underground concrete trenches. This conventional cable system has high material and installation cost as well as longer installation time. The insulated cable systems have other heat bearing limitations due to inherent characteristics of the insulation materials used in cable manufacturing and production. The energy loss element associated along the entire length, occurs due to an inefficient use of electrical energy.

Moreover, the flow of high currents in the event of a short circuit or overloads can cause the cable to catch fire, as its insulation is inflammable which consequently also damages the other cables laid in the proximity. Besides these characteristics sometimes the termination of cables in the switchgear is mechanically and electrically imperfect, which in most cases are the cause of electrical faults and fire hazards.

The Busbar Trunking System also known as Busways involves distribution of electrical power using set of copper/Aluminum bus bars enclosed in suitable box with high degree of protection against any ingress of foreign bodies.

These Busways offer a numerous advantages for a workplace aiming for trouble free and long service life. The cost of Busbar has been a point of concern for many designers and investors, however it is important to note that, an investor should not compare the material cost of maintenance free Busbar System against the conventional cable system.

The sandwich construction Busbars have a very good mechanical strength with higher fault level which is able to withstand characteristic and low voltage drop. This means much lower loses, allowing more efficient use of energy. This type of Busway System as provided by M. G. Engineering Associates has a compact arrangement, making it ideal to assimilate into building structures, while making it aesthetically pleasing in working areas of an installation. The exclusion of PVC insulation has made it environment friendly by eliminating the production of toxic gases. In this context, the design of Busbar system can be changed in future and / or moved to another building to be installed once again.

The consumers and investors should be educated about the energy and cost savings impact with the implementation of latest technology, the benefits of such changes can be seen throughout the operational life of the project.

In Karachi, the first ever maintenance free Busway Lighting Trunking System in textile industry has been planned and implemented by MG Engineering Associates in Soorty Spinning Mills.

Successful design and application of 4000A Power Busway Trunking System in projects like International Textile Mills and Union Fabrics has eliminated the usage and dependency on power cables completely from utilities. In both projects the power plant is also supplying power through Busway System.

Moreover the application of low voltage Busway Trunking System for entire power distribution at Zaman Textile Mills and International Textile mills have made the system more energy efficient thereby eradicating risks associated with the maintenance of the system due to power outages and fluctuations, etc.
