Burns celebrations pictures wanted!

ARE you hosting or attending a Burns supper this weekend in celebration of the Scottish bard? The Chronicle would love you to send us your party pictures ... complete with pipers, addresses to the haggis, kilts aplenty and guests raising their glasses for the toasts.

With Burns's birthday falling on a Saturday this year, it's a perfect night to celebrate the man and his poetry.

All you need to do is email a photograph or two, telling us who is in the photo and when and where the event took place to community@ncjmedia.co.uk with the subject Chronicle Burns Nights. We will feature the best on chroniclelive.co.uk and - if we get them soon enough -in the paper. S

Burns suppers always include haggis, neeps and tatties, with cock-a-leekie soup being a traditional starter and clootie dumplings a popular pudding. Not forgetting more than a dram or two of fine Scottish malt whisky during the evening.

Large events are being hosted at venues like Sage Gateshead and Blackfriars Restaurant in Newcastle.

you in the mood for Saturday night here's that opening verse of Burns's famous ode to the haggis: "Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face, Great chieftain o' the puddingrace!

Aboon them a' ye tak your place, Painch, tripe, or thairm: Weel are ye wordy o'a grace, As lang's my arm.
