Burnley eyes on Waddle.

CHRIS WADDLE is the shock name at the top of the hit-list for Burnley's hotseat, writes ALAN NIXON.

Waddle, the Sheffield Wednesday veteran, is being touted within Turf Moor as the ideal player-boss to bring the Second Division club to life.

Waddle would be prepared to talk to Burnley and has told friends that it is the type of outfit he fancies cutting his managerial teeth on.

Burnley are drawing up a short-list of candidates that also includes Brian Flynn and Adrian Heath, but Waddle's charisma makes him the outstanding candidate.

Waddle is out of contract at the end of the season and will have plenty of options, but the chance of a club with Burnley's potential does not come round too often.
