Bulldog redirected.

Cable & Wireless ended its chase for residential broadband business by refocusing its Bulldog arm on services for major internet providers.

The company said current home and small-business customers would still be supported, but it would cease marketing, with the expected loss of 150 London jobs.

The group, which acquired Bulldog for pounds 18m in 2004, will look to pass on the benefits of its work freeing con-nections from 411 phone exchanges, known as local loop unbundling.


CATERING equipment maker Enodis has rejected an pounds 850m takeover from US food equipment group Manitowoc. The London firm, which supplies fryers and grills to restaurants including McDonald's, met representatives from Manitowoc but said the conditional proposal undervalued the company.
