Bull-runner Gus gored in the head.

A SCOTS grandad has been gored in the head at a bull-fighting festival in Spain - a year after he was hurt at the same event.

Gus Ritchie was taken to hospital in western Salamanca on Saturday, the first day of the annual Carnaval del Toro.

The care worker, from Paisley, needed nine stitches and nine staples to close a gaping wound after being hit by the beast in the tourist town of Ciudad Rodrigo.

It's the third time adrenaline junkie Gus, 46, has survived a bull-running injury.

The Partick Thistle fan suffered a neck wound at the same festival last year and in July, he was crushed by a herd at Pamplona.

Gus told our sister paper the Paisley Daily Express: "I was gored in the head and there was a lot of blood.

"They put nine stitches and nine staples in the wound and that was that.

"Afterwards, I had a drink with friends and we had a laugh about it."

Benjamin Miller, 20, from Georgia, USA, is in intensive care after he was gored by a bull at the same festival.
