Bulgarian Medical Manufacturers Outraged by Cabinet's Policy.

Bulgarian manufacturers of medical equipment and materials are demanding the resignation of Social and Labor Policy Minister, Totyu Mladenov.

They outraged businessmen staged a protest rally Monday in front of the Ministry's building in downtown Sofia.

The demonstrators are angry over the fact the institution owes them about BGN 10 M for products they have supplied while payments received from the Social Assistance Agency are far from enough to cover expenses.

One of them, manufacturer of orthopedic shoes, told reporters he has not received BGN 70 000 for his products, adding Mladenov must go because he is a contributor to inter-companies' debt, evasion of Value Added Tax (VAT), non-payment of benefits and salaries to employees.

The manufacturers threaten to file a claim with the European Commission over the cabinet's policies, depriving people of much needed medical products.
