Building on the success of cranberries.
This launch reflects soaring cranberry demand and the predicted boom in the bakery market across Asia. Following the recent success of a cranberry-based Chinese mooncake, this is the latest in a line of traditional delicacies enjoying a revival thanks to the modern twist offered by the little red super-berry.
A traditional bakery product in Taiwan, pineapple cake is gaining popularity throughout Asia. Eaten all year round, it is often given as a luxury gift or bought as a souvenir by tourists. ChiaTe's pineapple cakes are a number one best seller in Tapei stores and the use of cranberries has achieved an original flavour and unique texture in this already successful product.
Mrs Chen, vice-president, ChiaTe, said: "We always seek to innovate and our award-winning range has received a unique boost with the addition of sweetened dried cranberries. Our shared values of quality, reliability and innovation make Ocean Spray cranberries the perfect fit and we are delighted with the success of this latest launch."
Rick Estabrook, manager, Asia-Pacific business development, Ocean Spray ITG said: "This is the latest in a series of launches that show the immense versatility and global consumer appeal of cranberry-containing products. Consumers worldwide are enjoying the unique taste of the North American cranberry in their local products, as well as in Western favourites like muffins, cookies and smoothies."
Sweetened dried cranberries are ideal for baked goods because of their versatility, process tolerance, sweet, tart flavour and attractive points of colour. Ocean Spray ITG's sweetened dried cranberries offer manufacturers added flexibility as they come in a variety of formats such as diced, double diced, glycerated and juice infused to suit a range of different applications.
