Build a hospital in the east, says AM.
FRESH calls have been made for any new hospital in Cardiff to be developed in the east of the city. The demand is being made to relieve the pressure on the University Hospital of Wales site in the Heath area, which is claimed to be overdeveloped. Sue Essex, the AM for Cardiff North, said: ``The UHW site is already grossly overloaded, causing enormous parking and transportation problems for both the people who work in and visit it and the long-suffering residents who live around it.
``What is needed now is for the newly set up Cardiff Health Board to seek a further medical site to relieve the pressure on the UHW. The site could accommodate a medical facility for the new housing areas in the east of the city at Pontprennau and St Mellons but could also be a location for new medical research and development and training.''
