Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2001

Buffalo Technology (USA) Inc., an industry-leading manufacturer of computer peripherals and wireless LAN solutions for small/medium business, SOHO, and home use, today announced the availability of its AirStation Wireless Print Server (AWPS) at Internet:Press, the JP Davis & Co. press reception at Internet World Spring 2001. The AWPS is the latest component of Buffalo Technology's Wi-Fi certified AirStation family of wireless networking of products.

The AWPS allows users of an AirStation wireless LAN to "cut the chains" and remove the wired connection between the network printer and its existing print server. Compatible with virtually any off-the-shelf printer, AWPS enables users to easily print from any of the PCs within the AirStation wireless network or directly between computers and the printer utilizing the system's adhoc mode.

"As the functionality of wireless networking equipment increases and the costs decrease, wireless networking will become an increasingly attractive and affordable solution to the needs for flexibility and mobility in today's multiple-computer home and SOHO environments," explained Morikazu Sano, Buffalo's vice president of Network Division. "Our printing server effectively addresses the issue of space limitations by allowing users to eliminate the need for the traditional bulky printer server and contributes greatly to the flexibility of the AirStation wireless network by allowing the printer to be located virtually anywhere within the network coverage area."

The AirStation wireless printer server, model LPV-WL11, supports the Windows, Macintosh and Unix operating systems. In addition, it supports the TCP/IP, NetBEUI, NetWare, and AppleTalk protocols.
