Bud helps to "Buck Out Cancer"

The Milwaukee Bucks were not the only team putting up basketballs at a record pace in the greater Milwaukee area.

Last year brought a strong team of participants in the American Cancer Society's "Budweiser Basketballs to Buck Out Cancer" program, where taverns, restaurants and retail stores sold cut-out basketballs for $1 to help raise money. The basketballs were then signed by the contributor and displayed in that establishment.

The past campaign marked the third year of joint-participation by Milwaukee-area Anheuser-Busch distributor, Beechwood Distributors, and the Milwaukee Bucks. As the program came to a close, 1990's total reached $12,301, eclipsing the 1989 total of $6,863.

This year's M.V.T. (Most Valuable Tavern) award went to the Traxx Side Inn, in Port Washington, WI, which had been the leading establishment in the two years prior to 1990. This year Traxx outdid themselves, according to Beechwood Distributors, by raising a total of $4,000. In all, some 90 establishments took part in the cause.
