Bud backs U.S., Olympic soccer

Budweiser and its brewer, Anheuser-Busch, Inc., announced it has signed its largest and most extensive domestic soccer sponsorship agreement to date with the United States Soccer Federation and Soccer USA partners.

The agreement will make Budweiser the exclusive malt beverage sponsor of the U.S. Soccer Federation and its national team programs, including the U.S. World Cup Team and U.S. Olympic Team.

"With the World Cup coming to the United States in 1994, we can't think of a better time to extend our association with the U.S. World Cup Team and the National Team program," said Patrick Stokes, Anheuser-Busch president. "We are pleased with the continued development of the U.S. teams, and the Federation's four-year broadcast contract with SportsChannel America."

Budweiser's most recent soccer sponsorship was the "Budweiser Challenge Cup," a two-game series of outdoor games between the U.S. National Team and all-stars from the Major Soccer League.
