TUCSON, Ariz. -- Brush Ceramic Products Inc., a leading manufacturer of customized beryllium oxide ceramics serving the telecom, medical and semiconductor markets, announced today that it has received ISO 9001:2000 certification for its Tucson, Arizona, manufacturing facility.

ISO 9001: 2000 is a management system of international standards for high quality manufacturing processes adopted by over 100 countries. This system drives continual improvement, better quality and improved customer satisfaction.

The certification was awarded by BVQi of Jamestown, New York, and received by Brush in December 2005. Established in 1987, BVQi is considered a global leader in the independent third-party certification industry holding direct accreditation from the worlds' leading accreditation bodies.

"For all of our customers, in every market that we serve, consistency of product from lot to lot is essential," commented John Scheatzle, General Manager of Brush Ceramic Products. "The certification process is our assurance to our customers that we have the systems in place to deliver defect free product. We'd like to thank our employees and the people at BVQi for working so hard to deliver the ISO certification."

Editor's Background Information:

Beryllia (beryllium oxide or BeO) is lightweight, very rigid and has excellent thermal management properties -- meaning it withstands extreme temperatures and rapidly dissipates heat better than any other ceramic material, making it useful in heat producing circuits, such as those carrying high currents or very dense circuitry. Hence, beryllia is the material of choice for a wide variety of critical components in aerospace systems, data processing, medical and computer applications. Beryllia ceramic packaging is a technology that enables electronics to achieve higher speeds, smaller size, and higher reliability.
