Brownmed adds to vibration therapy line.
KANSAS CITY -- This summer Brownmed plans to expand its recently launched Intellinetix line of vibration therapy products.
Intellinetix made its debut last fall with the rollout of two vibration technology devices: Step Sensor and Vibrating Gloves. Due out next are the Vibrating Knee Wrap, Vibrating Calf Wrap and Vibrating Sock, according to Matt Garver, director of mar keting at Brownmed.
Step Sensor ($199.99) is designed to help people with peripheral neuropathy and other nerve impairments, such as drop foot, regain confidence in their walk. The rechargeable device consists of a corded sensor that fits discreetly inside footwear and a vibrating wrap that goes just below the knee. Each time the user's heel hits the ground, the wrap provides a gentle vibration (for 1.5 seconds) to encourage the person to lift his or her foot, producing a smoother, less awkward gait.
Brownmed notes that Step Sensor can help reduce falls and tripping--common hazards for seniors. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that, every year, one in three adults age 65 and older experiences a fall, and 2 million are treated in emergency rooms for fall-related injuries.
The Vibrating Gloves ($149.99) provide drug-free relief from arthritis pain. Made of lightweight, breathable cotton material, the gloves gently vibrate when users push a button, warming aching joints and increasing blood circulation via mild compression. The rechargeable gloves operate for about 20 minutes and come in small, medium and large sizes.
