Browned off over green field builds.

JOHN Whitefield, Ryton, asked a straight forward specific question in relation to the destruction of Green Belt land for housing.

He quite rightly identified the vast tracts of brown field sites laying fallow while developers are given the opportunity to build on our green spaces.

The response from a nameless spokesperson from Gateshead Council was totally inadequate. Namely they failed to address John's direct question, why ignore numerous available brown field sites whilst allowing our green belt to be eroded.

It seems to me the only winners in this debate are the developers who bought green belt protected land years ago for a peppercorn. Now, thanks to Gateshead Council have been handed a massive financial windfall.
