X FACTOR hopefuls The Brooks Brothers were dramatically suspended yesterday just hours before the first live show.
Producers pulled twins Josh and Kyle from the line-up over worrying claims relating to Josh and his ex-girlfriend Amelia Clarke. A show insider said: "They're investigating serious allegations about Josh allegedly sending threatening messages to her."
News of the suspension was broken to shocked fans at studios in Wembley last night.
The 17-year-old brothers were removed from the X Factor house in North London yesterday afternoon and are believed to be staying at a hotel nearby.
Another ITV source said: "They are not being replaced, there will be 11 acts, not 12. Bosses have suspended them while the show has a chance to investigate claims."
A friend of Josh and Kyle - being mentored by judge Louis Walsh - said: "They are absolutely mortified and hope it is not the end of the line for them."
The brothers - recently renamed Brooks Way - were embroiled in controversy last week when Josh vehemently denied claims that he assaulted Amelia 10 months ago.
Last month the boys admitted they were "no goody two shoes". They were linked in their younger days to a gang which plagued an estate in Penarth, near Cardiff.
