Brocade launches 'industry first' for IP storage portfolio.
Brocade has introduced what it claims is "the industry's first purpose-built IP storage connectivity portfolio for data centre and disaster recovery".
The solution set is particularly focused on IP storage SLAs,
overcome outages, and simplified infrastructure. Components include Fabric
Vision technology for the Brocade VDX 6740 switch, for network management,
monitoring, and alerting; advanced IP storage extension for the Brocade 7840
extension switch; and unified storage management for Brocade Fabric Vision.
"The growth of business-critical IP storage workloads is
accelerating while SLAs are becoming more stringent," said Yarob Sakhnini,
regional director, MEMA at Brocade. "Management costs and infrastructure
complexity are increasing.
"Traditional Ethernet networks were never designed to
address the needs of IP storage. Shared networks simply cannot handle the
growth of business-critical workloads on IP storage. The network today matters
more than ever for IP storage. Brocade has taken the lead in addressing these
issues by introducing dedicated network solutions optimised for IP storage."
