Broadcaster Majaz passes away.
LAHORE -- Iftakhar Majaz, former head of the Current Affairs Department of the Pakistan Television (PTV) Lahore Centre, passed away at the Shaikh Zayed Hospital on Wednesday. He was 65.
He was a heart patient and had been suffering from paralysis for sometime. He is survived by four daughters and a widow. He worked with PTV for decades and did a number of programmes and introduced many new anchors. He was a poet, a writer and a columnist.
He was considered among the famous broadcasters of PTV. He did Masters in Mass Communication from the Punjab University in 1978 and joined PTV in 1982. Majaz retired in 2012. For a brief period, he served PTV as public relation officer; later on he got associated with the Current Affairs Department and did many programmes for the PTV. He also delivered lectures in different educational institutions on broadcasting. He used to attend literary sessions at Alhamra Adabi Baithak and was a delighted soul. He would always wear a smile.
PTV Managing Director Arshad Khan, Lahore Television Centre GM Saifuddin and PTV Employees Union expressed grief on his death.
His funeral prayers were attended by PTV employees, his colleagues and other people.
His qul will be held on Thursday at 515-Nizam Block, Allama Iqbal Town, after Asr prayers.
