Britain remains on course for a hung parliament, according to the latest opinion polls.

The YouGov daily tracker poll showed the Conservatives unchanged on 34 per cent, five points ahead of the Liberal Democrats who were up one on 29 per cent, with Labour unchanged on 28 per cent.

A survey for ICM painted an almost identical picture, with the Conservatives on 33 per cent, unchanged from last week.

Labour is also unchanged on 28 per cent, level-pegging with the Lib Dems, who are down two on last week.

If the results are repeated on May 6, the Conservatives will not be able to form a government with an overall majority.

Labour's election supremo Lord Mandelson said: "The big story of the election is that the Tories blew their lead at the beginning of this race and are still not winning it back."
