Britain basking in glorious sunshine.

SILHOUETTED against a breathtaking sunrise, two dog walkers stroll along a beach yesterday as a warm spell grips Britain.

The balmy weather was not quite as hot as Sunday's 18.7C.

But forecasters said the gorgeous sunshine was set continue with Thursday likely to be the warmest day of the year so far.

The Met Office's Helen Chivers said: "This week won't be a lot different to Sunday's weather. When the sun comes out temperatures will be in the high teens." The stunning sunrise in, Northumberland, yesterday was the perfect start to a balmy day which saw many areas reach highs of 17C.

Many people hit the beaches and parks to soak up some rays.

Experts warned it could get a bit wetter at the weekend.
