Brio Technology and WhiteLight Systems Among First to Integrate Using Microsoft's OLE DB for OLAP; Users Get Powerful Analyses of Heterogeneous Corporate Data.

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 1998--Brio Technology, the enterprise business intelligence company, and WhiteLight Systems Inc., the industry's only vendor of enterprise business modeling software, announced today they will integrate the Brio Enterprise family of business intelligence products and the WhiteLight product family using the Microsoft OLAP database access standard, OLE DB for OLAP.

The integrated solution will provide users with a single interface to relational and multi-dimensional data sources through Brio Enterprise, and complex analyses and enterprise business modeling capabilities through WhiteLight.

The Brio Technology and WhiteLight Systems partnership will produce one of the first integrated solutions using the Microsoft OLE DB for OLAP API, announced by Microsoft last September. Both companies participated in the release, citing their support to provide complete enterprise business intelligence solutions. The combined solution will be widely available later this year.

"By combining forces, Brio and WhiteLight are among the first to provide a joint solution that takes advantage of the open interface provided by the OLE DB for OLAP API," said Steve Murchie, data warehousing product manager at Microsoft. "This new partnership reflects the many new choices being created for OLAP users, supporting best of breed products through a common, standardized API."

As part of the agreement, WhiteLight Systems is joining the Brio Partner Enterprise, a comprehensive worldwide partner program designed to foster the delivery of best of breed data warehouse and business intelligence solutions worldwide.

"The integrated solution will help customers realize the power of data distributed across the enterprise," said Jannell Wei, director of channel and partner marketing at Brio Technology. "The WhiteLight partnership ensures the delivery of enhanced analytics within a framework of business models which empowers users to fully explore strategic information and drive better business decisions."

"Users of the integrated solution will notice how quickly they can develop and deploy business intelligence applications," said Michael Brill, vice-president of marketing at WhiteLight. "Brio Enterprise makes it easy to transparently access heterogeneous data sources, using industry standard connections."
