Bringing managers, information under one roof.

NYARM trade shows are an established tradition bringing real estate professionals together under one roof to meet other industry leaders, generate business opportunities, and provide up-to-date information on the industry. Our thanks go out to everyone planning on attending this year's show -- NYARM members, real estate professionals and the staff of the official publication of the NYARM trade show, Real Estate Weekly.

NYARM's third annual trade show promises to be as busy as last year's. The show will feature over 70 booths. Experts will be on hand to discuss boiler rooms, heat monitoring devices, asbestos issues, waterproofing questions, and a myriad of other issues.

Two seminars entitled, "Building Violations and Local Law 10: The Facts" and "Should New York State Property MAnagers Be Licensed?" will be offered to anyone in attendance at 1:30 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. respectively. The first seminar deals with the issue of receiving building violations and how to remove them. The session will also include a discussion on Local Law 10.

The session on licensing, currently a controversial subject in the real estate industry, will provide an in-depth discussion of whether property managers should or should not be licensed. Among other distinguished professionals, New York State Senator Donald Halperin will discuss his introduction of a bill into the Senate last May which requires that all New York property managers be licensed.

NYARM began hosting this annual trade show to give its members an opportunity to exhibit the latest merchandise and services in the market today and provide informational seminars on interesting topics. After three years, the show has expanded in scope, but one facet remains constant-- our commitment to educating property managers.

Since 1958, NYARM has been dedicated to the advancement of the real estate management profession. While NYARM provides a milieu where managers can meet and exchange ideas with their peers, it also provides formal classroom training. IN association with the apartment House Institute, a division of New York City Technical College, NYARM provides a certification program that educates managers, building owners, supervisors and maintenance personnel in building management, finance, supervision, the physical plant, tenant/management conflicts and renovations. Upon completion of the course requirements, each candidate is granted the title of "nyarm" (New York Accredited Realty Manager), which is recognized and appoved by both the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) and the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD).

NYARM continually provides a steady flow of information for members through its monthly newspaper and other publications; seminars and lectures; dinner meetings and other special events such as, holiday parties, auctions, etc; the aforementioned annual trade show; a Vendor Clearing House, where contractors receive pre-qualification on the basis of their past performance; a Technical Information Network, which provides solutions to management problems via telephone; currently in the development stages, RESCU (Real Estate Services Credit Union) and a job referral service. In addition, NYARM is currently working on a handbook for real estate managers, the first of its kind.
