Bring back the good old theatre days; Your Shout.

CHECKING through Michael Buble's concert tours, I was astounded to read that his concert at the Wembley Arena will cost, wait for it, from pounds 141.

Nobody would deny that Michael is a great performer, but it's mind blowing the huge cost to ordinary people.

I recall buying tickets for the huge sum of seven shillings and sixpence in 1954 to see Frankie Laine, pictured, at the Newcastle Odeon and the following year, singers Dickie Valentine, Lita Rosa and Dennis Lotis with the Ted Heath Band in1955 for less than half that price.

In Gateshead, we saw excellent performers at the Odeon, Nat King Cole for example, in Sunday night concerts.

The Gateshead Odeon and Gateshead Empire have been demolished.

The only Empire left is in Sunderland where there have been many excellent performers. Last week, Michael McIntyre appeared there.

I hope that when the new development of Gateshead town centre begins, a reincarnation of the Empire and/or Odeon theatre will be considered.
