Bring back GP night-time funds; FEEDBACK.
WHITEHALL advised Government some time ago now to take away funding for GP out-of-hours services. Walk-in centres were supposed to replace the service and stay open through the night relieving pressure on A&es.
Our walk-in centre no longer does stay open through the night and bizarrely that service has been moved just for night-times only to the local hospital emergency department. So people who were to be treated elsewhere to relieve pressure on A&E are now directed to the former A&E during the night.
a&E departments are to be split into two tiers, emergency departments and major emergency departments. Our hospital is labelled emergency department which shows clearly we are to be in the second division for the purposes of the new two-tier scheme. Is yours the same? This barmy scheme has been temporarily halted to save political embarrassment for the coalition Government at the general election on May 7. Labour are keeping quiet about this too because so many Labour councillors paid to attend health trust boards have just waived the changes through, failing to see the implications. Bring back funding for GP night-time cover. Save the NHS a fortune and relieve pressure on A&es.
