Bright Horizons Named One of FORTUNE's "100 Best" for 8th Time.

WATERTOWN, Mass. -- Bright Horizons Family Solutions (NASDAQ: BFAM), the world's leading provider of employer-sponsored child care, early education, and work/life solutions was one of only six Massachusetts-based employers named today to FORTUNE magazine's prestigious list of "The 100 Best Companies to Work For." Bright Horizons is the only education provider named to the list.

This is the eighth time Bright Horizons has been named to this list, ranking this year at #34 among large companies and #92 overall. The company earned high marks for diversity in the workplace. With 18,000 employees providing early care and education, back-up child and elder care, college counseling services and work/life consulting all as employment benefits, Bright Horizons takes pride in a strong workforce that reflects the diverse clients and communities it serves around the world. The company also places a high priority in its leadership role in the education and work/life field, creating a workplace where talented individuals can build a career and earn the respect too often overlooked for professionals in this field.

Bright Horizons Chief Executive Officer David Lissy noted that Bright Horizons shares the honor on FORTUNE's "100 Best Companies to Work for" list with 40 of the company's clients. "We work in partnership with our clients to help them create great places to work, and we are proud to be able to set an example by earning the honor as an employer of choice ourselves. Being a great workplace with a culture that honors teachers, educators, and all those who support them is what differentiates us and helps us provide the best possible care, education, and service to our clients, families and children every day."

Bright Horizons President and Chief Operating Officer Mary Ann Tocio said, "This honor belongs not just to Bright Horizons as a company, but to the thousands of educators who call Bright Horizons home and those who support the important, life-changing work they do. It is their devotion to the children, families and clients they serve that makes us who we are, and we are proud that FORTUNE has recognized the value of what they do and the environment in which they do it for an eighth year."

"The 100 Best Companies to Work For" list is based on two criteria: an evaluation of the policies and culture of each company, and the opinions of the company's employees. Two-thirds of the total score comes from employee responses to a survey measuring such things as employee attitudes towards management, job satisfaction, and camaraderie within the organization. The remaining one-third of the score is based on an evaluation of each company's demographic makeup, pay and benefits programs, and culture. Companies are scored in four areas: credibility (communication to employees), respect (opportunities and benefits), fairness (compensation, diversity), and pride/camaraderie (philanthropy, celebrations). The complete list and related stories appears in the January 22 issue of FORTUNE, available on newsstands January 15 and at www.fortune.com on January 8.
