Bridging The Gap

We don't have a date, but look for a Gap Kids store to come to Little Rock's Park Plaza, probably next summer.

A spokesman in the company's legal department says the opening "is not close enough to release a date."

But it's a done deal.

Gap Kids (which also sells Baby Gap) is owned by San Francisco-based The Gap Inc., which already has a store in Park Plaza.

The Gap just announced August same-store sales were up 14 percent over last year.

That even beats Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

For the first six months of its fiscal year, revenues topped $1 billion, compared with $807 million for the same period last year.

Says one local analyst, "They have a concept that works."
