Brickability gets Charterhouse; ACQUISITION.

Tamworth brick merchant Charterhouse Construction Materials has been acquired by Welsh rival Brickability in an undisclosed deal funded by the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Brickability, which provides natural stone, architectural masonry and cladding materials to commercial and residential markets, has been performing well in recent years and has been looking to expand to meet growth targets.

The business, which started in Bridgend 21 years ago, now has divisions in Maidenhead, Shrewsbury and Derbyshire.

Brickability has also acquired The Matching Brick Company, a brick matching and brick supply business, which is based in the Southwest.

Charterhouse, founded in 1991 and whose head office is in Mitcham, Surrey, will be rebranded under the Brickability name, while the Matching Brick Company will continue to operate under its existing name.

Brickability's sales director Martin Prosser will work with the Tamworth office of Charterhouse to enhance operations in the Midlands.

Brickability chief executive Peter Milton said: "I am delighted that the acquisition of the two companies are in place, putting us in a great position to expand geographically in the UK."
