Brewery and music combine; sound bites.

A HUDDERSFIELD brewer has helped launch a beer and CD compilation.

Brian Dickson, who went to the University of Huddersfield and until recently lived in the town, has brewed a brand new dark ale called Northern Industry which will be sold with tracks from 11 top new acts from the north of England on a CD with the same name.

Department M, Post War Glamour Girls, Battle Lines, Molars (Esper Scout/This Many Boyfriends) By The Sea (Billy Ryder-Jones Produced) and New Woman are among those featured on the album, which is on sale with the beer in ale shops across the country as part of a new, quirky and little seen before venture.

Dan O'Dell, Hide & Seek Records, said:"The compilation is primed for whetting the appetites of shoegazers, post-punkers, art-rockers and synthpop fans galore, with plenty more in between. "The songs were chosen to complement each other well and they all share varying shades of darkness, the result is a tracklisting that makes a perfect listening accompaniment to the blackened beer."
