Breach in canal inundated many villages, standing crops.

NAWABSHAH -- Wide cultivated area and villages were inundated when 60 feet wide breach occurred in Malwah Shahkh near Nawab Wali Mohammad some 40 kilometers from here on Monday.

The breach occurred in canal near village Umer Rahu that inundated villages Umer Rhu, Bachal Rahu, Imam Bux Naich and Gul Mohammad.

On the other hand crops of sugarcane, cotton, onion and others on hundreds of acres also came under water.

Villagers said that the information of breach was immediately communicated to staff of irrigation department.

The breach was later plugged on self help basis by the villagers while the machinery arrived when breach plugging work was in progress.

They said that late plugging of breach has caused them huge financial loss.
