Brazilian shipowners award NOK400m contracts to Norwegian Ulstein.

NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-15 December 2009-Brazilian shipowners award NOK400m contracts to Norwegian Ulstein(C)1994-2009 M2 COMMUNICATIONS

15 December 2009 - Norwegian company Ulstein Design said last Friday it has signed six ship design contracts with Brazilian shipowners Companhia Brasileira de Offshore (CBO) and DSND Consub, worth more than NOK400m.

The contracts cover the delivery of design, engineering, main equipment and building follow-up.

DSND Consub has ordered two oil spill recovery vessels of the Ulstein P801 model with a conventional bow, while CBO ordered two larger and two smaller platform supply vessels -- Ulstein PX105 and Ulstein PX106 types, respectively -- with the Ulstein X-bow.

Deputy CEO Tore Ulstein said the contracts were important for the Ulstein Group as there is major investment activity on the Brazilian continental shelf and wide-reaching plans for the area.

DSND Consub, a Brazilian subsidiary of Oslo-listed Siem Offshore Inc (OSL: SIOFF), is a new customer for Ulstein, while CBO, part of Fischer S/a Comercio Industria E Agricultura, has also previously chosen Ulstein Design for its fleet.
