We always welcome the opportunity to share good news.

In the Aug. 20 issue of Financial World, First Commercial Corp. gets a hearty vote of confidence.

It ranks 35th on a list of "America's Best Banks."

It was No. 28 among bank holding companies with $10 billion or less in assets.

The article's subhead poses this question: "Which Banks Are Best Positioned For The Decade Of Consolidation?"

Banks were ranked using a complicated method that measured the quality of their balance sheets and cost controls.

The listing's median return on average assets was 0.81 percent. First Commercial weighed in with an ROAA of 1.12 percent.

The list, which ranked 219 institutions with assets of more than $750 million, placed Worthen Banking Corp. at No. 128.
