Feb. 25

Police caught two young offenders allegedly stealing from vehicles in Paris at 3:15 a.m. A 17-year old male was in possession of stolen property on Whitlaw Way, Paris and was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Two other males, both adults, were also checked but did not possess any stolen items.

Police are asking Paris residents who have been victims of theft in the past several weeks and have not reported the crimes, to contact Brant O.P.P. at (519) 442-2242.

Feb. 26

A large marijuana grow-op was discovered when officers from the O.P.P. Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Drug Enforcement Unit and Brantford Police Services Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant for drugs at a Mount Pleasant Road residence at 7:15 p.m. More than 130 plants were seized along with a large amount of dried marijuana and Canadian money. The total value of the seizure was about $115,330.

Edward Seppenwoodle, 44, and Elizabeth Dias, 51, were charged with marijuana production and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

Feb. 28

Three men loaded up a lawn tractor onto a trailer at Cadman Lawn and Power in Burford, mistakenly thinking they had bought the machine from the owner. Steven Crawford, 42, from Brant county, who committed the alleged fraud, was charged with fraud under $5,000 and theft under $5,000. The lawn tractor was retrieved from Crestwood Lake Trailer Park.

Mar. 1

A business on County Road 18 near Cainsville was broken into some time between 6 p.m. on Mar. 1 and 6 a.m. on Mar. 2. Electric garage door openers and numerous hand and power tools were stolen.

Mar. 3

Thieves stole a large amount of copper pipe from the Brant Twin Pad construction site over night. The value of the theft was between $5,000 and $8,000.

Mar. 18

A stolen vehicle was discovered when police were called to the scene of a single vehicle rollover on Jerseyville Road at 2:46 a.m. Paramedics were giving medical help to a lone male and it was determined that several other people had fled the scene after the collision. The Emergency Response Unit and the K9 team searched for three other males but failed to locate them. Two males were later arrested. A young offender who cannot be named was charged with possession of stolen property and careless driving.
