Byline: By PAUL MARTIN Ireland's No1 showbiz writer

HOLLYWOOD'S hottest couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have sparked speculation they will tie the knot in Ireland after a flying visit.

Now top showbiz insiders say they have launched a search for the perfect venue for the big day.

In the past decade Ireland has become the No1 choice for stars to get hitched. From Beatles legend Paul McCartney to shock rocker Marilyn Manson, the A-listers are lining up to exchange vows. Today we look at the spectacular locations bidding to host Hollywood's biggest ever wedding.

WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL: Huge bedrooms, a e a-night honeymoon suite and some of the top chefs in the country.

STAR POWER: The Beckhams gave the Co Dublin venue their ultimate seal of approval in 1999 when they tied the knot there.

The ceremony was surrounded by the kind of security operation that Brad and Angelina would need, with David and Victoria spending more than e300,000 on keeping the press and public out.

Posh and Becks sat on thrones at their reception and some of the biggest stars in showbiz were in attendance.

WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL: One of Ireland's oldest and most historic castles.

STAR POWER: Castle Leslie became the centre of the showbiz world in 2002 when Beatles legend Paul McCartney tied the knot with Heather Mills.

They invited the good and great of the music industry to Co Monaghan and hired a top security team to stand guard at the venue for three days.

They prepared for the big day by riding horses around the grounds.

WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL: From U2 to Robbie Williams and Madonna, Slane has become the Mecca of Ireland's music scene over the past 20 years.

The Co Meath venue is famed for hosting the most spectacular concerts.

STAR POWER: Brian McFadden and Kerry Katona staged their reception in the castle in January 2002 and struck a e700,000 magazine deal for their wedding shots.

Guests enjoyed a seven-course banquet and a spectacular fireworks display at midnight.

WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL: Set amid rolling hills and lakes it is one of the most visually stunning wedding locations in the country.

STAR POWER: Any venue that hosts a wedding reception for super spy 007 has something to boast about. Pierce Brosnan married Keely Shaye Smith at the impressive venue in August 2001 and instantly propelled it up the showbiz ladder.

Westlife star Shane Filan married his sweetheart Gillian Walsh at the Co Mayo venue in December 2003 and spent more than e400,000 entertaining guests with fireworks and laser light shows over the lake.

WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL: Its spooky gothic style adds a real aura of mystery and occasion to any wedding. Private grounds and 10 bedrooms make it the perfect spot for a smaller, more intimate reception.

STAR POWER: Shock rocker Marilyn Manson chose best pal Gottfried Helnwein's mansion to stage his wedding to burlesque stripper Dita Von Teese. Only 60 guests were invited and the happy couple took their wedding photos at nearby pub McArthy's.

It's unlikely that there will be any other big names tying the knot here though - Helnwein only allowed Manson to use his impressive Co Tipperary home for the bash because they've been friends for 10 years.
