Boyfriend stabbed partner after she admitted kissing another man.
A JEALOUS boyfriend knifed his girlfriend nine times when she admitted kissing another man.
Ashley Dawe was in bed with Melissa Parr when he asked her about seeing other men, Cardiff Crown Court heard.
After Miss Parr said she had kissed another man, Dawe, 23, kicked her in the head before going downstairs to the kitchen and grabbing a knife. Returning upstairs, he sat on her legs and repeatedly stabbed her.
Neighbours heard screams coming from Miss Parr's flat in Cardiff and saw blood on the windows before alerting police.
Dawe has several convictions for violence, including assaulting Miss Parr and other ex-partners.
The court heard Dawe and Miss Parr had been in a relationship for almost 12 months when he attacked her on the morning of February 19 this year.
Miss Parr was taken to hospital and doctors found she had two "significant" stab wounds to her chest and abdomen, although they did not require surgery. She had other stab wounds to her lower body as well as wounds and cuts to her head and face.
Dawe, of no fixed address, fled the scene and was arrested a short time later.
He was due to stand trial for attempted murder but pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Judge Eleri Rees passed an extended 14-year sentence, meaning Dawe will serve nine years in prison and five on parole.
