Boy among four dead in crash.

A FIVE-year-old boy and his grandmother were among four people killed in a crash on the A470.

Police said all four were killed outright at the scene between Llangurig and Rhayader in Powys.

A fifth person was fighting for their life in hospital after the smash at 11.40am on Good Friday.

The grandmother, who was in her 60s, and her grandson were found dead in the wreckage of her silver Vauxhall Agila hatchback.

Two passengers in a red Seat Leon also died at the scene. The driver of the Seat was said to be serious but stable in hospital on Sunday.

Police closed the road for five hours while investigators tried to discover the cause of the crash.

A local farmer, who didn't want to be named, said: "It is a dreadful thing to happen, especially on Good Friday. It was carnage down there."
