Boy, 15, dies in fall from moving van; TRAGEDY.

POLICE are warning youngsters not to risk their lives taking part in a "traffic surfing" craze after a teenager died after falling off the back of a moving van.

South Yorkshire Police believe the boy, 15, was standing on the tow bar of a Renault Traffic panel van as it drove through Doncaster.

The youngster, who has not been named, fell and hit his head on the kerb on Sunday, causing serious head injuries. He later died at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Sgt Andy Noble, of South Yorkshire Police, said: "I've never heard the phraseology 'traffic surfing' but it could be that people are getting away with it without anyone getting hurt. We can't stress enough not to do this."

Police are quizzing a man, 18, about the incident.
