Boxing News: Nonito Donaire Must Avoid Vic Darchinyan, Jhonny Gonzalez Fight is Most Attractive For Filipino Flash.
Jhonny Gonzalez (55-8, 47 KOs), who stunned universally recognised best featherweight Abner Mares in the first round of their WBC Featherweight clash, appears to be the most ideal opponent for Donaire out there.
Darchinyan is still an elite fighter at featherweight class, but Gonzalez's stocks skyrocketed following his shocking win over Mares. That alone is enough for Donaire to accept such interesting fight.
Coming off a 12-round unanimous decision loss to Guillermo Rigondeaux in the earlier part of 2013, Donaire direly needs to come up with a victory against big name fighter for him to re-energise his boxing career.
With solid fan base and warrior-liked fighting style, Gonzalez really seems to be a good match-up for the Filipino Flash, who usually thrived in toe-to-toe confrontations. Moreover, the Gonzalez fight will also give Donaire a crack at winning a title in fifth different division.
Yet again, both camps have to solve one big road block for the fight to materialise. Gonzalez is currently signed with Golden Boy Promotions while Donaire is tied with rival promotions Top-Rank.
Boxing fans have long been deprived of the chance to see elite fighter going head-to-head because of the warring promotional outfits. It is time for this to end. Let boxing fans enjoy Donaire-Gonzalez slugfest.
